Since last Tuesday, Boriowo don announce say secondary school students wey dey study Arts no go dey forced again to get credit for Mathematics for SSCE exam before dem fit enter university.
She talk say dem bring dis change after many years wey dem dey limit students wey qualify to enter university because dem no pass Mathematics.
She still yarn say even though more than two million students dey write UTME exam every year, na only about 700,000 dey get admission for university.
But dis decision don cause plenty argument, as some education experts dey criticize di change, say e go reduce students performance and spoil di quality of education.
However, for one new statement, Boriowo don emphasize say di new university admission policy no mean say students no go write Mathematics exam again.
“All students must still register and write English and Mathematics for their O-Level exam,” di statement talk.
Di statement still add say even though universities fit accept students for some courses wey no need credit for English or Mathematics, students still must write di two subjects for their O-Level exam.
